July 12, 2010 – Fort Bragg, CA – I explored Caspar Cove near here and watched a Canadian goose and her two goslings for awhile.

Then I walked the Fern Canyon trail at Russian Gulch State Park. (This is not THE Fern Canyon, but another by the same name. I expect to be at THE Fern Canyon within the next couple days.) That was a very nice walk through the forest, with lots of ferns and horsetail.

Then finally I walked to the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse. It’s not a tall one, but it’s a nice one. And they still use the old Fresnel lens. When I got too close to it I couldn’t see the light, but further away, up the hill, when I was level with the light, I could see it better. Made it real clear that the light goes out on a horizontal plane.
But that was too much walking in one day. My feet were not happy.
